Dermot Bannon’s Awkward Appearance in Blind Date

Dermot Bannon’s Awkward Appearance in Blind Date

We’ve all said hurtful things in the past, but Dermot Bannon’s performance in Blind Date is back in the spotlight after the video was reshared.

The clip hilariously came back to haunt him during an appearance on the program Late Late in 2022, after researchers from the program managed to find a clip.

The architect had his head in his hands at the time, and rightly so. The video shows a very young Dermot vying for the attention of a young lady and it’s fair to say he wasn’t lacking in confidence.

During one particularly embarrassing moment, Dermot said: ‘So you know a good catch when you see one?’, to which she promptly replied that she couldn’t see it behind the screen.

He continues: ‘You want a bit of inside information? Forget the two ugly ducklings and go for the swan.’ It turns out the young lady in question was none other than fellow future TV star Jenni Falconner.

The Scottish presenter mainly works on radio these days, but also appears regularly on This Morning and posted a funny clip on her Instagram during the week.

She talked about the viral clip for the Sliding Doors Podcast: ‘This is me at 18. On Blind Date… In this episode you’ll hear why this clip is my first Sliding Doors moment.’

Her followers immediately jumped on the clip, writing: ‘So Jenni, you could have ended up with the little Irish architect Dermot Bannon.’

‘That’s why Blind Date ended!!! Dermot overtook the production team and went over budget,’ teased another.
